I love stories of this nature. It gives the reader so much information on the failed "War on Drugs", and the criminal mentality in taking advantage of such a failure.
But, the best part about this article is, if this newspaper can gather so much information on theses activities, just imagine what law enforcement from local, state, and federal sources have on these gangs? And then again, if they have been in operation for so long, what are they paying the cops? Well, think about it. This article wasn't written overnight. This took planning, research, interviews, and surveillance among most things. So if your local newspaper, has so much access to information of this illegal activity, shouldn't the elected representatives have the same knowledge? And what exactly are they doing about it?
This area has always been a "Known" drug spot for decades. Let me repeat that last word, DECADES. What does that tell you about the "War On Drugs"? What does it tell you about the elected representatives serving this area on the local, county, state, and federal level? What does it tell you about law enforcement at the same levels, since this is a "KNOWN AREA" with a multiple decades history?
This is the reason I love articles of this nature. They demand that you think, ask questions, demand answers/solutions, and put the onus on elected officials, and law enforcement to "Earn Their Keep" of our taxpayer dollars.
