" A study was done at the end of LBJ's administration. It was cheap,
as such things go @ $80M. One recommendation was, pot ought
to be legalized; sold at drug store tobacco counters or ABC stores.
(Another...tax...cash-cow.) But holier than thou, Nixon, came in,
pounded the bible--And shit canned the idea.
The people at the top of the drug pyramid--Some of the wealthiest
families in America--learned a lesson when Prohibition was abolished
and were not about to let it happen with pot. Pot was, and still is,
the "hook" to pull the punters in. Pot won't
be legalized if they have
their way...and they usually do have their way. Organized crime had
the second most powerful lobby in Washington then and, probably, still
has--So it will have to be done on the state level. (In California: $100
just for the card plus $350 an ounce. Estimate: $1,200\month)
In Thailand you can walk into any drug store and buy anything--with the
exception of a narcotic--without a prescription. Here, the medication
will cost four-times-or-more as much as there and add $295.00 for an office
call to the doctor who writes the prescription--But if you can afford good
health
insurance @ about $150.00\Mo., plus your deductible and another
$40\Mo. medicare premium you may be able to get that medication almost
as cheap as in Thailand...If you don't get in the dreaded doughnut hole.
Everyday, I find myself wishing I could sell up and move there. Some twits
call it the Great Whorehouse By the Sea. Frankly, I think they have the
wrong end of the stick."
