I have no apologies for being the bearer of bad news. Yet, here it is. Racist policies, greed, and the need for cheap labor drove those jobs out of urban areas. And let us not forget the air pollution factor. The EPA told corporations clean up your mess. They complied by leaving.
Having a decent paying job leaves little room for crime. Take that one factor away and what do you expect? Would you work and can't pay basic needs? Some might call that slavery. We call it so. A low wage job in retail is just another form of slavery. The great migration led people into decent paying jobs. The powers that be didn't like that.
