Meanwhile, our politicians continue ignoring the carnage. Several weeks ago an alderman got punched by a gang of hookers while attempting to keep his neighborhood safe. The rest of the city council appears fearful of their constituents. They don't lead marches, hold town halls, nor propose any legislation dealing with the gun violence. Why do they act like this isn't a problem?
The pundits/talking heads misleadingly tell the public, our city has the "toughest gun legislation in the nation". That may hold some truth, but what they never mention is, this state is surrounded by states with the weakest gun legislation in the nation. I'm especially looking at you Indiana. Maybe our politicians should consider legislation suing these surrounding states when guns recovered from violent crimes trace back to them. At the very least, it's better then pretending gun violence isn't a problem.
