This is the best the city can do. Since they are so hard-up for cash, one would think fixing these vacant buildings and homes would generate revenue for the city. But, that's just makes sense so forget it. There's a state (maybe a few), that runs its own liquor stores. So what's so wrong with cities and states fixing up abandoned properties and renting them out? They did it with "public housing". Go a step further and legalize pot.
Our city is double taxing us with the new "garbage fee". That is something that comes with your property tax bill. Yet, here's the rub. The above link has two people in an alley getting shot. No mention of an abandoned building. So here's an idea. How about legalizing marijuana and taxing the shit out of it, like you do everything else that is considered a vice?
