Meanwhile, nothing is being done. It appears our lawmakers have the old "let them kill each other off mindset". That approach has never worked, it does the opposite, it increases the problem as more innocent civilians get caught in the crossfire.
And when innocent civilians get caught in the crossfire, that increases voter anger. That's a lesson politicians seem to never learn. So what will it be lawmakers? Do nothing? Or piss off voters?
