Sure, we have some strict gun laws but, our surrounding states don't. Our criminal justice system is beyond fucked up by allowing violent repeat offenders out early. Congress and state legislators refuse re-visiting the mandatory minimum laws on the books that tie the hands of judges across the country. There's many more issues that can be listed, but this should give you some insight on why the top cop is pissed.
