Preckwinkle wants to eliminate unincorporated areas in Cook County
For some, this may just be a no brainer. But for others that appear to oppose this idea, it seems a bit selfish when you don't want to pay for police, and fire protection.
Look at your other alternative. Private security? Guess what? You are still paying. That's what will happen when you only think of your self interest, and a private company swoops in and BUYS the area. And guess what? They will charge you more than a meager tax increase ever could.
So here's your choice. Either buckle down and pay for Constitutionally sworn law enforcement to serve and protect or, hire Blackwater and sit-back and watch them trample over your rights.

My question is what company did he work for, or was he an independent?
Funny, a reporter at the scene would at the very least, ask such questions. Isn't it strange how they get pissed at bloggers and don't even bother doing a little research for a couple of simple questions?

That's smart. They already know this law is unconstitutional. I'm wondering who thought of this major violation of the constitution in the first place? ALEC?
The bottom line, is the fact these are Public Officials earning taxpayer funds. They must be held accountable. To jail a citizen for recording police carrying out their duties in the public space, is as dumb, and frivolous as one can get. Democrats, and Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for even voting on such an unconstitutional piece of legislation. Doing actions of this nature really speaks volumes of how these politicians actually think of the constituents they are sworn to serve. They really do think we are stupid.

As with all things, the devil is in the details.
If something goes wrong, who's legally liable? If wages are unfair, who's going to correct it? If the "User Fees" are high, who's going to step in and ensure fairness? And lastly, why no oversight? What the hell are we paying an inspector general for if you refuse to allow them to do their job?

Man charged with stealing $1.7M in computer parts from Hewlett-Packard
Oh that darn Internet. Here I am needing a motherboard for my HP computer, and what do you know? I did a google search, and yep, was looking around on EBay.
What are the odds had I decided to purchase one from there, and come to discover it was "Hot"? What becomes of the people that bought from this guy? Will the cops kick in doors and rip the parts out of those computers? Will the unaware buyers be charged for receiving stolen merchandise? So many questions, never enough answers. I'm glad I didn't buy that motherboard just yet.

Romney's healthcare plan may be more revolutionary than Obama's
Romney's healthcare plan may be more revolutionary than Obama's
Well, here's another reason Americans really need to get behind a Medicare For All Plan. The Republicans wanted Mitt's version (RomneyCare) when he was governor. They (Republicans) drew up the plan the President signed into law. Now he wants to do what Nixon attempted back in the 1970's. If any of you are sharp at history, Nixon wanted to take the burden of paying for health care out of the employers hands, and give people a choice. Kind of like the "Exchange" that will soon go into law in the coming years. But here's the rub. The GOP still wants to destroy, or privatize Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Nixon didn't. Anyone with a brain is very much aware of this major fact.
So as the "Revolutionary" part of his plan is leaked out, people will come to understand that the poor, working poor, middle-class, and the elderly will get the short end of the stick. If this ever goes into effect, it will happen. The proof is in the actions of all the GOP controlled legislatures in the States. Draconian, and unconstitutional laws are being pushed down the throats of the people, at the behest of banks, NRA, Oil, Gas, and many other corporations. What the GOP didn't expect, was the people are not as dumb as they thought, and fought, and are still fighting back. That's the American way. We as Americans will never tolerate tyranny. It does not matter if you are GOP, or Democrat. The Constitution of the United States is in plain enough language for all people to read and understand. For some strange reason, the GOP, and some Democrats think we don't get, or see how they are trying to turn this proud society into an autocratic regime.
This plan is, and will fail. We fought the British and won our freedom. We fought the South and won our moral compass. Now we are fighting the Corporations. We will prevail and win back both our freedom and moral compass, because that is exactly what they are trying to take away from us.
Thomas Jefferson said it best: "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Some folks will say anything to keep themselves relevant.
Even a person with basic technology skills knows when that craft malfunctioned, any sensitive data was destroyed. So for these clowns to even go public and say something as dumb as this, speaks volumes. All they will ever know is how to tear it apart, and put back together. Anyone, well almost anyone can make a remote controlled gadget. You see the flying helicopter on late night television all the time, with a couple of bored kids flying it in the house instead of taking it outside.
Now if Iran is ever on the up and up, it will grab some cameras and go fly the damn thing just like any other country that has this very old technology.

I know it's not even June, but so far this baseball season has me at the point of yelling on Twitter.
But I'm going to hold that proverbial, primal scream while watching my Cubs play. When injuries happen this early in the season, I'm betting on its cause as players doing more because of the current record the team holds. In other words, they begin pushing themselves harder.
So with that being said, slow down Cubs. It will all come together. Oh yeah, before I forget, the Sox still suck.

Skeptic misses point behind UFO book
Oh I love this shoot-down of Oberg. You have to agree with the author, these type of people have an agenda for misleading, and misinforming the general public.
Now any decent person would disclose if they have the proverbial dog in the fight. But not this disingenuous fellow. Oberg should have mentioned his employment in the skeptic business before attempting to debunk any subject. That's what we regular people call FAIR. When I was reading his "Shoot-Down", he basically called "Trained Pilots" liars to put it nicely. I find it odd that a person that never has been into space, bomber, or fighter jet can actually question the credentials of any trained civilian, or military person.
For myself, that's the ultimate in Monday morning quarterbacking. If you don't know, just say so. Don't slam what you don't understand.
A few years ago my eldest brother and his daughter saw something in the sky followed by fighter jets. I didn't see it. They couldn't identify the craft, but he sure knew what a fighter jet looked like. Explain that Mr. Oberg?

At U.S. gun convention, many see rush to judgment in Trayvon Martin case
"I wish all those folks demonstrating and making the inflammatory statements would keep their powder dry," said Owen Mills, an NRA board member, who runs a firearms training facility in Paulden, Arizona. Mills said he was not speaking for the NRA as an organization."
English translation: Those uppity Black People.
Here's a thought for the uninformed. If a qualified law enforcement representative informs you "Not To Follow", you then become the aggressor once you refuse to heed such an order, or suggestion.
Now for some food for thought. It's night, you are a teen, and some grown dude is following you in the Sexual Predator State, you would be afraid, and either get away as fast as you can, or if confronted, have the RIGHT to "Stand Your Ground".
Think about that Owen.

Obama: Legalizing drugs not the answer to fighting trafficking
Obama: Legalizing drugs not the answer to fighting trafficking
Jesus! Talk about tip-toe through the tulips. Look, I understand he's the President, and damn near everything has to be put in political context. But we all know the evidence for legalization is fact-based, and not a hysterical smear campaign like they did back in the 1930's.
Legalization of marijuana is a start Mr. President. And yes, just like booze, there will be individuals that will abuse it. But once marijuana is legalized, it will give politicians in each city, village, and state another chance to screw up budgets around the country. This Mr. President, we both know they will. Especially GOP Governors. They just can't help themselves when it comes to money.
Look, I know if you come out in-favor of legalization of weed, the GOP Wind-Machine dubbed FOX will be calling you yet again, all kinds of derogatory names. Here's some advice. FUCK EM! Nine times out of ten, they probably do more dope over there.
Do it like booze, and let the cities and states tax the hell out of it.

Most Americans back gun lobby, right to use deadly force
In the immortal words of Cenk Uygur: "Of Course!!!!"
Yes, we as Americans do have the right to not only protect ourselves, but also our homes, and loved ones. But this little nugget in the second paragraph of this article speaks volumes. And by the way, it's also something you may never hear on the lie factory called FOX (The Truth Is like Holy Water, It Burns Them)News.
"However, there was also strong support from respondents for background checks as well as limiting the sale of automatic weapons and keeping guns out of churches, stores and workplaces."
Isn't that something? The majority of NRA members "Support background checks, closing open, or indoor gun show loopholes, and Limiting the sale of automatic weapons". The NRA takes these hard-working peoples money, yet refuse to listen to them. I wonder what would happen should members stop paying dues? They might as well since the hierarchy at the NRA doesn't really care what its members think.
Oh! If you are wondering how the military covers the issue of "Deadly Force", this is a good guide for civilians that read this. http://www.dtic.mil/doctrine/jel/cjcsd/cjcsi/3121_02.pdf
I highly recommend it be read, and applied fellow citizens.

Cantor cash irks state GOP
Cantor cash irks state GOP
Well, one should expect nothing less from the GOP. They have a "War on Women" in several states, and if given the chance with a majority in the house and senate, will bring it to the federal level.
Anyone with a brain already knows the platform these no-shame bigots have in-store for Americans. If you raking in a million plus, you're fine. If not, well you know, you are just shit out of luck. So it's no surprise they are not only dictating what women can and cannot do, they also fight amongst themselves for more power, and money. This is the ONLY reason Cantor is doing what he does. It's all about the dollars, and foot soldiers he thinks he can give marching orders.
The GOP we know and see today is nothing more than a branch of theology akin to the Spanish Inquisition. Cantor is looking for more foot soldiers to do his bidding. He doesn't want independent thinkers around.

Such a shame.
Our elected leaders need a serious legislative effort to deter these young people from this vicious cycle of violence. We all know 20 years in prison isn't the answer. We all know the "Death Penalty" has been abolished. So what would you suggest? As for myself, once these clowns use an unregistered, illegally obtained firearm. Kiss you behind goodbye, and do an automatic life stint. That's a fair scenario, and should not conflict with the constitution.
Come on elected leaders, at the very least my suggestion should be given a very hard look.

Funny, you still can't figure out why your parties approval ratings are so low? Here's one reason. You disgust people with such immature behavior.

Who, or what "Hunter" needs a rapid fire weapon for hunting?
You may as well just go in the woods with sticks of dynamite. Hey Bob how's your bullet riddled meat? Okay Stan once you swallow a few slugs.
No folks they cannot enjoy the same protections within the Second Amendment. Weapons of this nature have only one intent. Obliteration of humans. On a constitutional level, this falls in the "Cruel and Unusual Punishment" category. Only a person with malicious intent would own such a weapon for "Hunting". I could understand if your only hunting bears, but a deer? Yeah those crafty antler-wearing bucks with snow-mobiles must be stopped. Really?

Coca-Cola halts ties to conservative law drafters

By SUZANNE GAMBOA
WASHINGTON (AP) - Coca-Cola Co. (KO) has ended its membership in a conservative organization seen as the incubator for a string of new state laws on voting and a marketer of laws like Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense statute.
The Atlanta-based soft drink maker says its focus with the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, was on combating "discriminatory" food and beverage taxes, not on issues "that have no direct bearing" on its business.
The decision came Wednesday, just a few hours after online advocacy group ColorofChange began a boycott of the company.
Several states have passed laws requiring voters to show specific identification. The Justice Department says some violate the Voting Rights Act. The Florida "Stand Your Ground" law has come under harsh scrutiny following the fatal shooting of teenager Trayvon Martin.
