Eight People Shot On Monday In Chicago

Eight People Shot On Monday In Chicago:

April is getting a bit nasty after the "drop in violent crime" from last month. Meanwhile, our politicians and clergy continue ignoring the carnage. Isn't it odd that this city and certain suburbs have a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, yet they still get in the hands of repeat felons? One would guess reforming our current sentencing guidelines would help decrease this insanity. But alas, that would only put a small dent in the problem. There are several solutions at our politicians disposal. Let's examine a few.

Sure we can reform the current sentencing guidelines but, we also must take a hard look at the infamous straw buyer. You know, that asshole that travels across state lines and suburbs that have weaker gun regulations and buys weapons for repeat offenders? That person or persons must be dealt with in a manner that would strike fear in their hearts so that they stop such reckless behavior. I suggest a maximum 10 year sentence. Why not? First of all they file a false police report claiming the gun/guns were stolen. If we ever enact proper background checks, the names of the straw buyers family and friends, and acquaintances would be known with law enforcement. So, not only we should reform the sentencing guidelines for repeat offenders, we should also increase the penalty for filing false police reports on stolen guns that were used in the commission of a crime. See, a couple of solutions that can be examined right there in your face.
