Bankruptcy choices highlight fiscal pain of cities nationwide

Bankruptcy choices highlight fiscal pain of cities nationwide

This is a very interesting subject for all the wrong reasons.

You could ask yourself, how in the hell is it possible for a city, town, or village to declare bankruptcy, when they rake in taxes on a daily basis? The answer is really simple when you just take a moment, and think. Graft, corruption, and greed. They make more then a police officer, fireman, teacher, or EMT. Yet they are the very first ones looking to cut those workers pay, without one thought of doing such to themselves. The only exception, that guy that slashed everyone down to minimum wage.

Yet, all of the cities, towns, and villages get a cut from lottery proceeds, and the taxes they collect. You also have a complete asinine situation where these same people jack-up property taxes on declining home values. Yeah, go figure. I wonder if these places, and elected officials have to attend credit counseling like they make us poor schmucks do? My guess is, probably not.

So the real question is this, where's the money you collected from property taxes, lottery proceeds, income, and sales? What exactly did you people do with it? Is it in your pockets? And if so, how in the hell did it get there? If an elementary school can only afford fans during the summer, what's the point of a lottery that's supposed to fund education? Where's that money really going? Administrative fees? If that is the case, maybe minimum wage for those people should be the norm.
