1 killed, 5 injured in shootings across city

1 killed, 5 injured in shootings across city

I'm betting these stories are in papers across the nation. It really makes a person stop and think, just what exactly are we paying these politicians, republican, and democrat for?

For some strange logic, which many cannot fathom, our elected politicians just can't bring themselves together and enact a massive jobs bill. You see, when people are busy working for a living, they don't really see a need for hanging out on the streets selling dope, robbing, etc, etc. And we know why that happens. They have to be at work, and don't have idle hands.

Yet our elected politicians think passing "Open-Carry", "Concealed-Carry", "De-Funding Planned Parenthood", installing mini dictatorships, stripping unions rights to collectively bargain, returning to "Poll Taxes", Jim Crow era voting restrictions, freeze workers pay but not their own, willing to deny you universal health care, yet gladly take plans we pay for, and of all insane things, a "Person-Hood" legislation/ballot initiative thinking this will solve all our nations ills. What in the hell are these people smoking/snorting, injecting, or all of the above?

Banks went wild on consumers, and themselves when they repealed the Glass-Steagall Act back in the 1990's, which caused the insanity we witness now. They got bailed out, while people are getting kicked out of homes they willing, or UN-willing got duped into. Politicians gave them our hard earned tax dollars, and gave the people, the middle finger.

So here we are, reliving the days of the wild, wild west where lawlessness prevails, and innocent civilians have to jump through hoops to legally buy a weapon of choice just to protect their families. So again I ask, what are we paying them for?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they also are using Gestapo-like tactics on peaceful protesters in a vain attempt at suppressing Freedom of Speech, and Assembly. Can't wait for the book burnings, and Salem Witch Hunts to begin.

Happy New Year!

Talk About Power Hungry

Why is it some "Elected Leaders" think The Constitution of The United States is just a piece of paper that has no meaning, or power over them?

I get the "States Rights Argument", but turning OUR States into mini dictatorships, is beyond repulsive. Here's a piece is such legislation that wants nothing more than to suppress Freedom of Speech, Expression, and Assembly for addressing our grievances. Check it out below:

Office of the Chicago City Clerk O2011-9743 Office of the City Clerk City Council Document Tracking Sheet Meeting Date: Sponsor(s): Type: Title: Committee(s) Assignment: 12/14/2011 Emanuel, Rahm (Mayor) Ordinance Amendment of various provisions of Municipal Code for associated authorization regarding the upcoming NATO and G-8 summits Committee on Budget and Government Operations 5v6G^, OFFICE OF THE MAYOR CITY OF CHICAGO RAHM EMANUEL MAYOR December 14,2011 TO THE HONORABLE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO Ladies and Gentlemen: At the request of the Superintendent of Police, I transmit herewith an ordinance amending various provisions of the Municipal Code and providing associated authorization regarding the upcoming NATO and G-8 summits. Syrian forces kill 25 protesters, monitors reach cities

Syrian forces kill 25 protesters, monitors reach cities

Strange how little outrage, and intervention as compared to Tunisia, and Libya?

I wonder if Syria has "Nukes"? Could that be a reason the Arab, and African Unions are not sending troops? Could that be why neither of these entities asked The United Nations for military intervention? If I remember correctly, there was kind of a "Let's see how it plays out in Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia, and Bahrain". Yet when it came to Libya, it was a "Let's hurry up and get rid of this butt-head.

I just find this "Hands-Off" approach a bit odd. Don't you? What does Syria have that makes these other countries sit back and watch?

Cops: 2 juveniles charged in CTA platform shooting

Cops: 2 juveniles charged in CTA platform shooting

Charges as juveniles? A 16 years old has a gun, illegally obtained of course, knowingly discharges it (Intent), striking his intended target, and is charged as a juvenile? Really? That late at night, with a 14 year old (Parents, Curfew?) packing.

Now we see why our legislators suck. Let's see if any of you can make it a felony for any juvenile, with a no doubt, unregistered, illegally obtained firearm in this state. Sounds like a plan right? Let's make it happen.

14 and 16 years old out at that time. So much for the curfew crackdown. Charged as juveniles? Really?

Sears plunges nearly 25% on store closings

I TOLD YOU SO!

Classic example of extortion. They shook us tax payers down for cuts, breaks, and free rides, and folded like a cheap suit. This is a never-ending cycle that politicians keep falling for time, after time. When will they ever learn? It didn't matter if they got those perks or not. They were going to shut these places down, kick employees out, and move on to another State, or overseas, and do the same thing over, and over again.

Boy! I hate to tell ya I told you so but, I told you so.

Medicare and Mediscare

Medicare and Mediscare

Naturally you should expect this kind of "Editorial" from what some people deem a "Conservative Newspaper".

Here's my problem with this endorsement on this so-called plan. 1. All the details are not out. 2. The parts that are out, should scare the holy crap out of people not yet at the age of qualifying for Social Security, and Medicare. With any "Voucher System" you are allotted a certain amount of funds. After that is exhausted, you are S.O.L. If your not up on that term, it simply means you are shit out of luck.

If anyone could "Predict" when they get sick, prevention would always be the first step. This voucher system is nothing more than a prediction on your health. It can't, and will never work. A perfect example. You have used the last amounts of a voucher on treatment or a doctor visit. You leave the hospital, or clinic and get hit by a vehicle. Guess what? You got it. That money is coming out of your pocket one way or the other.

So people please do yourself a favor. Don't ever fall for this type of reporting/opinion when all the details haven't even been released. The parts that are out there should give you pause. If they want to seriously do anything for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, they need to stop the insane tax cuts for the wealthy in this country. That is revenue for these programs, and yes folks, there are many a wealthy individuals out there using these same programs. For a conservative newspaper, you really should have reserved your opinion on something that hasn't been fully released.

Islamists kill dozens in Nigeria Christmas bombs

As much as people refuse to acknowledge the fact, Ishmael, and Issac were half brothers and they got along.

No matter which book you adhere, and read, killing innocent men, women, and children is against the word, and laws of your Creator.

May peace and blessing follow you all.

Newt Gingrich launching petition drive for Illinois Republican primary ballot

Newt Gingrich launching petition drive for Illinois Republican primary ballot

I mean seriously people! Unless you like unpaved roads, child labor, women barefoot and in the kitchen, wealthy Whites that can only vote, and a return to slavery, go right ahead and vote for any GOP candidate. They are coming after all of us. That means you policeman, fireman, teachers, managers, and workers in all industries, unless you are banking a million a year.

If you think that's over the top, just look no further than what they are doing in the States they control. Stripping people of basic rights, letting corporations ravage, and pollute the lands given too them practically for free. Trying to impose their will on women's health issues, allowing people's homes to burn down, and completely installing dictatorships in Michigan.

Do you really want a return to their version of the "Good Old Days" where women, and people of color "Know Their Place"? The motto for the World Trade Center is "Never Forget." So I implore you, to never forget what they did in those other States. Person-hood Amendments? Appointed/Handpicked mini-dictators? Poll Taxes? When it's easier to get a gun, then for you or I too vote, something is very wrong. When they refuse to allow a vote on repairing bridges, roads, our means of public transportation, employing more police, fire, and teachers, something is very wrong. They have told you in your face that they will destroy Social Security. They will even let a soldier and his or her family lose their home by refusing to vote on legislation that will prevent such from happening.

The only way, we the people, can fix this mess they put us in is very simple. The Glass-Steagall Act must be restored. Violators of the Voting Rights Act, Roe versus Wade must be incarcerated. And those installing dictatorships must be tried for treason. I say this because those people are indeed violating The Constitution of The United States. We must install a Super Majority in the Senate, and House of Representative's that will truly reflect the direction this country must take. And that direction is forward. I don't know about the rest of you but, seriously people, Jim Crow, The Willie Lynch Papers, and The Salem Witch Hunts isn't a time I could ever look fondly back on. "Never Forget."

CPS to lengthen high school days by 36 minutes next year

CPS to lengthen high school days by 36 minutes next year

Hey it's better than nothing.

These kids need a better grasp of understanding the world around them. One could say, things have definitely changed dramatically since the invention of the typewriter. Let's face the facts folks. We are "Global". Information is just a key-punch away for millions of people around the world. Well, maybe not the average citizen of North Korea, and other deeply impoverished countries. But, it's there, in libraries, cafes, and dozens of tech locations.

Our teachers must drive home the point that the world we live in now, is simply zipping along at a much faster clip, from an information standpoint. And it is how that information is used, will either make, or brake us as a country. Extending classroom time for high school students is a good thing. In my view, it should never had been tinkered with in the first place. So teachers, please utilize that time exploring with your students, current events around the globe.

'Birther' bid to challenge Obama's right to be president rejected

'Birther' bid to challenge Obama's right to be president rejected

There is just no limit on a person's bigotry and hatred.

The really sad part about this group of people, they all claim they are Christian. That clearly cannot be, for the simple reason of the hatred they hold for this President. The last time I checked, Christian's just don't hate. But these Christians have so much vile, and venom within them, they are clearly blinded by the message the person they claim to follow, explained unto them. If they feel that way about this President, what does that say for all people of his color?

There are numerous examples, better yet, quoted rantings from many sources. Leroy Newton called him "A Food Stamp President". Sara Palin bitched about a "Christmas Card", forgetting to do any research on past President's "Christmas Cards". She also failed to mention that her buddies at the NRA have a big "Season's Greetings" on their own card. Not a Merry Christmas to be found.

Since there is no limit for these so-called Christian's, how much did that snowballs chance in Hell lawsuit cost you? You could have used that money for oh, I don't know, helping those less fortunate? That would seem like a very Christian thing for all of you to accomplish. Oh, I forgot. Your bigotry and hatred blinds you from such noble acts.

White Castle tests adding booze to its menu

White Castle tests adding booze to its menu

Okay, let's put it out there.

Many people go there already under the influence. So now you want them completely passing out inside, or in the drive-thru? You've seen the studies. Marijuana and booze use is up across the board, in age and gender. You've also seen those actors making "The Run" in that semi-funny movie. People have been making that White Castle Run for years in search of quelling the munchies.

So now, we have a few brain farts across the border thinking of another way for boosting their income without regard for other people's safety. The late night castle runners are already stoned. That isn't a secret. If they do this, "One More For The Road" should be the new motto.

Damn! All this talk of sliders is giving me a craving.

The Hundred Years' German War

The Hundred Years' German War

Short and sweet yet again.

This is really an eye-opening article. It hits that proverbial nail on the head, and we here in the United States should "start saving..."

We've lost our way with this consumer society mentality. Time for us to get back to being a manufacturing might once again. Read this paragraph:

"Germans on average worked harder and smarter than their European neighbors -- investing rather than consuming, saving rather than spending, and going to bed when others to the south were going to dinner. Recipients of their largesse bitterly complain that German banks lent them money to buy German products in a sort of 21st-century commercial serfdom. True enough, but that still begs the question why Berlin, and not Rome or Madrid, was able to pull off such lucrative mercantilism."

"A blatant political move."

Yet you went and wasted taxpayer funds taking this to court. How fiscally conservative is that? How much money did we lose by your fiscally conservative, not a snowballs chance in hell, waste of time legal challenge?

And you wonder why people hold you in such low standings. Yes, it was "A blatant political move."

Short and sweet today.

I'm no fan of our current Corporate Court. But if any person is dumb enough to elect this guy President, he will make history as the first, and only President to go straight too prison. This guy just told anyone within earshot, he'll violate the Constitution, and any law he doesn't agree with. Iowa, please feel free and waste your vote for a future criminal.

Digging a pension hole

Digging a pension hole

Boy this is just plain theft.

Here's an idea. Hey unions, how about putting that dues money you collect into a credit union for your employees? Hey State, and Local representatives. How about letting government employees put the same in credit unions? With the both of you entities doing such, it would make it very difficult for you to raid, and pillage those funds. It's all about taking the money out of politics. If you don't have an incentive to steal, you just will not bother, and finally start doing what the people elected you for.

Look unions, you are already under attack from the same people that came hat in hand begging you for members money. You should have told them to fuck off when they invented "The Employee Contribution". It was a scam then, and still is today. Once "We The People" wake up and resist the lure of bogus quick cash schemes, the middle class will be much better off because we will have the power, and not corporations dictating to our elected officials what's best for this country.

This is what happens when we were put into a consumer coma. They just flat out stole from us.

Tax fight gets nastier as government shutdown looms

Tax fight gets nastier as government shutdown looms

Mission accomplished GOP/Bag Party.

You lied your way into office promising "Jobs", "Repeal of Healthcare", and "Less Government". The only one of those that you kept, "Less Government". You haven't done Jack-Shit on the jobs front. You knew for a fact the repeal of healthcare was never going to happen, because if you did do it, the voters would have made you pay for your own. And to top all that off, all that work Mitt did in Massachusetts, would have been ruled unconstitutional years ago. So with less government being the thing you do best, corporations are free to fleece the people you "SWORE" to protect.

It comes as no surprise that your "Approval Ratings" are in the toilet. Yet you could care less, because in nearly two years you haven't done Jack-Shit but suck up taxpayer money feeding yourself at the corporate pig-pen built for you. You go on television with constant lies about programs that will actually help people and small companies across this country, about how such policies will "Kill Jobs", when it is you that enabled big corporations to ship such jobs overseas.

Yep, you guys, and gals really have proved that doing Jack-Shit is your cup of tea. But look around you. People are coming out of that FOX induced coma, and taking to the streets. That means voters. And no matter how you try and make it more difficult for them, they will come out in droves and vote. They have one thing on their side you completely forgot about. It's named the Constitution. And that, is something even your appointed Corporate Court can't ignore. If they decide to do so, we can always have another "Continental Congress Convention" again. Just keep doing Jack-Shit.

Americans returning electronic gadgets in record numbers

Americans returning electronic gadgets in record numbers

Now that is a very interesting finding from this study. "Buyers Remorse".

Now when you think about it, that phrase could have several meanings. But I have this feeling, with all the hype given to certain gadgets, it appears that they just didn't live up too hype. In other words, they sucked, or simply wasn't needed.

If you have a desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet, or the IPad, or all, why do you need more? Buyers Remorse simply means, this is excessive, and I just don't need an added expense for something I already have, that does the same thing.

Food for Thought

GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students... here is something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.

And the first thing he said was ' DON'T !'

'Don 't what ? ' Adam replied.

'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.' God said.

'Forbidden fruit ?

We have forbidden fruit ?

Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit ! '

' No Way ! '

'Yes way ! '

'Do NOT eat the fruit ! ' said God.

'Why ? '

'Because I am your Father and I said so ! ' God replied,

wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants

A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked !

'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit ? ' God asked.

'Uh huh,' Adam replied.

'Then why did you ? ' said the Father.

'I don't know,' said Eve.

'She started it! ' Adam said.

'Did not ! '

'Did too ! '

'DID NOT ! '

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve

should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !

1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own .

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:

Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day

AND FINALLY:

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,

DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

'TAKE TWO ASPIRIN'

AND 'KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN'!

Walsh to seek re-election in 8th Congressional District

Walsh to seek re-election in 8th Congressional District

"Fool me once..."

Voters, you really want to waste your time, energy, and vote for one of the sorriest deadbeats ever to hold office? Ask yourself this. How many jobs has he created or saved? Why did he vote to destroy Social Security as we know it? Why is he against you having health care, while he receives it, compliments of you? You voters elected him on false promises.

He hasn't came up with any legislation to create, or save jobs. He voted to privatize Social Security and leave you at the mercy of Wall Street and Insurance companies. He voted against the Health Care law, yet happily took tax-payer supported health care for himself, and not his children. He held this "Town-Hall" away from you! How's that for representation? And yet, there are some people out there, seriously considering returning a deadbeat of this ilk back for another term. Why?

I truly don't know about you, but when someone lies in my face, I know what to expect next, and plan accordingly. You voters can forgive him, but you better not trust people of this nature ever again. If you decide to send him back, expect more of the same hypocrisy. Should the words "Jobs" slither through those lips, expect more false promises.

Now you know something is wrong with our criminal justice system.

This knucklehead gets slapped seven years for killing a human being while high on "Freon"! Forget about the pot this boob also smoked. But "Freon"! Really? Really? Really? Yet the system bangs fourteen years on a former governor for being a big-mouthed meat-head, that didn't even get a penny for his crime.

Yep, something is definitely wrong with our criminal justice system.

Facing bankruptcy, Postal Service pushes forward with big cuts to first-class mail next spring

Facing bankruptcy, Postal Service pushes forward with big cuts to first-class mail next spring

Reading this article just exposes the total hypocrisy of republican lawmakers. Never in the history of business has a company/corporation ever had such extortionist policies placed upon them. When you here the GOP scream about how regulations "Kill Jobs", just look at this over-reaching regulatory burden they have place upon the postal service. This heinous act will never be done to a private company, and never tolerated by private companies. This was only done because of their hatred of the middle-class. This law in my view is the utmost UN-American thing a legislator could do.

If they will never consider doing this to a private company because it will "Kill Jobs", why are they killing these jobs? One reason only. They hate the middle-class, and wish to return this country's population into indentured servants. Just reading this mind-numbing law is enough to simply have ones own head cave right in.

Don't believe it? Here ya go. If that one doesn't work, just copy the other below.

Message to Emanuel: Black aldermen not happy with remap

Message to Emanuel: Black aldermen not happy with remap

Just my two cents.

You know, when you really look at "Gerrymandering", it has an eerie feel of segregation. If my neighborhood has a diverse population regardless of what ethnic group has a majority, I would expect the elected representative, to do just what they were elected for; represent all of us.

Oh well, that's just my two cents. Can't wait for how will work out.

Caterpillar: Tax vote sign of Illinois' 'rudderless, dysfunctional business climate'

Caterpillar: Tax vote sign of Illinois' 'rudderless, dysfunctional business climate'

More corporate welfare threats.

Here's a fact. Zenith Electronics did the same thing when LG bought them, and still left the state after it begged for more welfare. The state gave in, Zenith/LG took the money and tax cut, and still left. Many jobs were lost, many small business owners suffered, while these people laughed all the way too the bank. Once they got the sucker deal, they spent nearly 300 million dollars sprucing up the place, putting in automated machines to cut the workforce, claiming the "Robots" will triple manual labor. Well that didn't happen. They would have been better served just using that 300 million for slight, I say again, slight pay raises. The machines never matched worker production, so they cried "We can't make any money like this", and split.

Caterpillar is correct. Our politicians are indeed, "Dysfunctional". They keep falling for the same old ruse every time. Hell, even George Bush said "Fool me once, ugh, ugh..."

Look, if you don't give them all these cuts, and breaks, at the very least use that "New Found Revenue" for hiring more police, teachers, firefighters, EMT's, transportation, and construction workers. You might as well convert those soon to be abandoned buildings into new schools, police, fire, or transportation terminals. That would serve the state much better as opposed to threats if you don't hand out more unnecessary corporate welfare.

Fidelity: 401(k) balances drop 12 pct. in 3Q - Chicago Sun-Times

Fidelity: 401(k) balances drop 12 pct. in 3Q - Chicago Sun-Times

Makes one wonder if they only just put that money in a regular savings account, instead of betting on Wall Street.

When the introduction of this scheme first came about, there was just something not right I told myself. Why should I give money to financial institutions that play on Wall Street, when the place I work at, pays a wage that I could set some aside into a savings account? It was the place I worked for that had an interest in Wall Street, not me. So when they came up with this scheme to take employees money for investing in Wall Street, I thought, "Are you insane?" Prior to the 401(k), pensions were handled by the union and employer. Companies invented the 401(k) to get the unions out of the way. Naturally, I'm under the impression some "Hush Money" was exchanged, because of the lack of crying foul by unions. Never once did a union rep tell other members that such a deal of this nature stunk.

The "Option" for not making contributions was always there. So those that did not, saw an almost equal benefit compared to those that did. Such an outcome like that, would make a person think twice. Yep, a regular savings account sure sounds like ones best bet against Wall Street any day. It's such a shame the "Lure" of quick cash made us forget basic math.

Could have given me half of that with this cost-saving suggestion.

Black Friday sales up $1 billion over 2010 - Chicago Sun-Times

Black Friday sales up $1 billion over 2010 - Chicago Sun-Times

This article speaks volumes of the American mindset. It basically informs me that we still occasionally fall back into our collective comas.

These companies slam us left and right with material things that we must have, when in fact, we don't. They continue the oppression of its own workers by forcing them to abandon their families, while in the same breath, suppress their wages. Thanks to corporate manipulation, we have indeed become a consumer society. Our fall from a manufacturing powerhouse was indeed slick, and quick as we were told to "Go shopping", as companies shipped jobs by the droves overseas.

From an article posted yesterday, this state alone lost "26% of its manufacturing jobs in a decades time".(Link Here:http://www.suntimes.com/news/9025308-418/the-lost-decade-cook-county-loses-26-of-manufacturing-jobs.html) Yet this state finds itself in difficult budgetary times, and companies, and corporations threaten our law makers for more corporate welfare, while continuing their suppression of creating jobs. We gave them tax cuts before, and they still left this state. There is no logic for us to continue feeding this beast.

A billion dollars and it's only Sunday. Comas are a hell of a thing. We must wake up, before it's way to late.

State lawmakers poised to act on tax breaks for Sears, CME

State lawmakers poised to act on tax breaks for Sears, CME

This just pisses me off.

If these law makers cave in to these "making money hand over fist beggars", the next thing they will do is slash much needed social services, and increase taxes on the backs of the poor, and middle class. That, you can certainly guarantee. If this state is having a "Budget Deficit Problem", why in the name of all sanity, do you want to cut taxes for companies that do not need them? How much does the CEO's of all these beggars make? Millions per year of course. So justify giving these companies tax cuts when you NEED revenue?

If they bully you with threats of leaving, fine let them leave. Just watch what happens to the states they run to. The law makers there will do exactly what you guys, and gals are contemplating, tax increases on the poor, and middle class. That's the only way you guys, and gals, can cover the loss of revenue from corporate welfare. It is, what it is. Corporate welfare.

Tens of thousands in Wisconsin apply for concealed carry permit

Tens of thousands in Wisconsin apply for concealed carry permit

Let the fallout, and lawsuits begin. This is what happens when you don't think things through, and ram legislation down people's throats, just to appease your puppet masters. Look at this major issue from the article:

"Percolating beneath it all are questions about business owners' liability.

The law grants immunity to property owners who allow concealed weapons in their establishments, but does not address the issue for property owners who bar them. That omission has given rise to a legal theory that owners who ban concealed weapons could be liable for injuries someone suffers in a shoot-out because the owners prevented the wounded from defending themselves.

Democratic state Sens. Jon Erpenbach of Middleton and Tim Cullen of Janesville asked Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen for an opinon clarifying the liability issues earlier this month, calling the liability clause "counterintuitive and illogical." Van Hollen, a Republican, refused to comply. He said he's not legally bound to supply legislators with legal opinions.

Gwen Bryan, owner of Louisianne's Restaurant in Middleton, said she's frustrated with the law and with Van Hollen. She said she wants to ban weapons in her restaurant, but wants the guarantee of legal immunity that comes with allowing them.

"Van Hollen isn't living up to his duties as attorney general," she said. "Everybody's very confused about this law. Only a lawyer can figure out the way it reads, with the jargon ... It's unfair we're put in this situation. Walker says we're open for business. This is not looking out for business."

Justice Department spokesman Dana Brueck said the agency can't give legal advice to private citizens. If the law truly is counterintuitive and illogical, as Erpenbach and Cullen say, it's up to the Legislature to address it, she added."

More police departments look to tune public out

WASHINGTON (AP) - Police departments around the country are working to shield their radio communications from the public as cheap, user-friendly technology has made it easy for anyone to use handheld devices to keep tabs on officers responding to crimes.

The practice of encryption has grown more common from Florida to New York and west to California, with law enforcement officials saying they want to keep criminals from using officers' internal chatter to evade them. But journalists and neighborhood watchdogs say open communications ensure that the public receives information that can be vital to their safety as quickly as possible.

D.C. police moved to join the trend this fall after what Chief Cathy Lanier said were several incidents involving criminals and smartphones. Carjackers operating on Capitol Hill were believed to have been listening to emergency communications because they were only captured once police stopped broadcasting over the radio, she said. And drug dealers at a laundromat fled the building after a sergeant used open airwaves to direct other units there - suggesting, she said, that they too were listening in.

"Whereas listeners used to be tied to stationary scanners, new technology has allowed people - and especially criminals - to listen to police communications on a smartphone from anywhere," Lanier testified at a D.C. Council committee hearing this month. "When a potential criminal can evade capture and learn, 'There's an app for that,' it's time to change our practices."

The transition has put police departments at odds with the news media, who say their newsgathering is impeded when they can't use scanners to monitor developing crimes and disasters. Journalists and scanner hobbyists argue that police departments already have the capability to communicate securely and should be able to adjust to the times without reverting to full encryption. And they say alert scanner listeners have even helped police solve crimes.

"If the police need to share sensitive information among themselves, they know how to do it," Phil Metlin, news director of WTTG-TV, in Washington, said at the council hearing. "Special encrypted channels have been around for a long time; so have cellphones."

It's impossible to quantify the scope of the problem or to determine if the threat from scanners is as legitimate as police maintain - or merely a speculative fear. It's certainly not a new concern - after all, hobbyists have for years used scanners to track the activities of their local police department from their kitchen table.

David Schoenberger, a stay-at-home dad from Fredericksburg, Va., and scanner hobbyist, said he understands Lanier's concerns - to a point.

"I think they do need to encrypt the sensitive talk groups, like the vice and narcotics, but I disagree strongly with encrypting the routine dispatch and patrol talk groups. I don't think that's right," he said. "I think the public has a right to monitor them and find out what's going on around them. They pay the salaries and everything."

There's no doubt that it's increasingly easy to listen in on police radios.

One iPhone app, Scanner 911, offers on its website the chance to "listen in while police, fire and EMS crews work day & night." Apple's iTunes' store advertises several similar apps. One promises to keep users abreast of crime in their communities.

Though iPhones don't directly pick up police signals, users can listen to nearly real-time audio from police dispatch channels through streaming services, said Matthew Blaze, director of the Distributed Systems Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania and a researcher of security and privacy in computing and communications systems.

The shift to encryption has occurred as departments replace old-fashioned analog radios with digital equipment that sends the voice signal over the air as a stream of bits and then reconstructs it into high-quality audio. Encrypted communication is generally only heard by listeners with an encryption key. Others might hear silence or garbled talk, depending on the receiver's technology.

The cost of encryption varies.

The Nassau County, N.Y., police department is in the final stages of a roughly $50 million emergency communications upgrade that includes encryption and interoperability with other law enforcement agencies in the region, said Inspector Edmund Horace. Once the old system is taken down, Horace said, "You would not be able to discern what's being said on the air unless you had the proper equipment."

The Orange County, Fla., sheriff's office expects to be encrypted within months. Several police departments in the county are already encrypted, and more will follow suit to keep officers safe, said Bryan Rintoul, director of emergency communications for the sheriff's office.

In California, the Santa Monica police has been fully encrypted for the past two years and, before that, used a digital radio system that could be monitored with expensive equipment, said spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Still, full encryption is cumbersome, difficult to manage and relatively rare, especially among big-city police departments who'd naturally have a harder time keeping track of who has access to the encryption key, Blaze said.

The more individuals or neighboring police agencies with access, the greater the risk that the secrecy of the system could be compromised and the harder it becomes to ensure that everyone who needs access has it, Blaze said.

(AP) Scanner hobbyist Rick Hansen holds his scanner/Ham radio device at his home Saturday, Nov. 19,...
Full Image
Relatively few local police departments are actually encrypted, Blaze said, though some cities have modern radio systems for dispatch that are difficult to monitor on inexpensive equipment. The systems can, however, be intercepted with higher-end scanners.

"I would not be surprised if a lot of departments that do it would switch back to non-encryption. The practical difficulties of trying to maintain an encrypted system at scale start to become apparent," he said.

Some departments have studied full encryption but decided against it, including police in Greenwich, Conn.

"Because we've always retained the ability to encrypt traffic on a case-by-case basis when we need to, in a community like Greenwich, I think the transparency we achieve by allowing people to listen to our radio communications certainly outweighs any security concern we have," said Capt. Mark Kordick.

And some departments have tried to compromise. The Jacksonville, Fla., sheriff's office leased radios to the media, allowing them to listen to encrypted patrol channels. That practice ended last summer out of concern about maintaining the confidentiality of radio transmissions, said spokeswoman Lauri-Ellen Smith.

In D.C., Lanier says the department is stepping up efforts to advise the public of developing crimes through Facebook, Twitter and an email alert system. Officers will use an unencrypted channel starting next month to alert the public to traffic delays, said spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump. But the chief has refused to give radios to media organizations, which continue to assail the encryption.

"What about the truly terrifying crimes?" Metlin, the news director, asked at the hearing. "What if, God forbid, there is another act of terrorism here? It is our jobs to inform the public in times of emergency."

Rick Hansen says he's been listening to police communications since he was an adolescent and says efforts to shut them make government less transparent. The Silver Spring, Md., man says sensitive information could be kept off the airwaves on a selective basis.

"Yes, it's a concern - and it's something that can be addressed through proper procedures and processes as opposed to turning out the lights on everybody," he said

Found On The Net: Round 2 Jokes

Watching football, bored, found some Blonde Jokes. For the record, I didn't write these.

A blonde & her husband are lying in bed
listening to the next door neighbor's dog.
It has been in the backyard barking for

hours & hours.
The blonde jumps up out of bed and says,
"I've had enough of this".
She goes downstairs.

The blonde finally comes back up to bed
and her husband says, "The dog is still barking, what have you been doing?"

The blonde says,
"I put the dog in our backyard,
let's see how THEY like it!

Two Blondes With Hammers...

Lynn & Judy were doing some carpenter work
on a Habitat for Humanity House.
Lynn was nailing down house siding,
would reach into her nail
pouch, pull out a nail & either toss it
over her shoulder or nail it in.

Judy, figuring this was worth looking into, asked, '
Why are you throwing those nails away?'
Lynn explained, 'When I pull a nail out of my pouch, about half of them have the head on the wrong end & I throw them away.'
Judy got completely upset & yelled,
'You moron! Those nails aren't defective!
They're for the other side of the house!'

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Did you hear about the two blondes
who froze to death in a drive-in movie?

They had gone to see 'Closed for the Winter.'

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You might have to think twice about this one.

A blonde hurried into the emergency room late one night with the tip of her index finger shot off. 'How did this happen?' the emergency room doctor asked her.

'Well, I was trying to commit suicide,'
the blonde replied.

'What?' sputtered the doctor. 'You tried to commit suicide by shooting
off your finger?'

'No, silly' the blonde said. 'First I put the gun to my chest, & then I thought, 'I just paid
$6,000.00 for these implants...

I'm not shooting myself in the chest.'

'So then?' asked the doctor.

'Then I put the gun in my mouth, & I thought,
'I just paid $3,000.00 to get my teeth straightened I'm not shooting myself
in the mouth.'

'So then?'

'Then I put the gun to my ear, & I thought:
'This is going to make a loud noise. So I put
my finger in my other ear before I pulled the
trigger.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A blonde was driving home after a game &
got caught in a really bad hailstorm. Her car
was covered with dents, so the next day
she took it to a repair shop. The shop owner
saw that she was a blonde, so he decided
to have some fun.... He told her to go home
and blow into the tail pipe really hard, & all the dents would pop out.

So, the blonde went home, got down on her hands & knees & started blowing into her tailpipe.. Nothing happened.. So she blew a little harder, & still nothing happened.

Her blonde roommate saw her & asked, 'What are you doing?' The first blonde told her how the repairman had instructed her to blow into the
tail pipe in order to get all the dents to pop out.
The roommate rolled her eyes & said, 'Uh, like hello! You need to roll up the windows first.'

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
These are just too cute not to pass on!!!!

A blonde was shopping at Target &
came across a shiny silver thermos.
She was quite fascinated by it, so she
picked it up & took
it to the clerk to ask what it was.

The clerk said, 'Why, that's a thermos.....
It keeps hot things hot, And cold things cold.'

'Wow, said the blonde, 'that's amazing.....
I'm going to buy it!' So she bought the
thermos & took it to work the next day.

Her boss saw it on her desk.
'What's that,' he asked?

'Why, that's a thermos..... It keeps hot things
hot & cold things cold,' she replied..

Her boss inquired, 'What do you have in it?'

The blond replied......
'Two Popsicle's & some coffee.'

+++++++++++++

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

A blonde goes into work one morning crying her eyes out.

Her boss asked sympathetically, 'What's the matter?'

The blonde replies,
'Early this morning I got a phone call saying that
my mother had passed away.'

The boss, feeling sorry for her, says,
'Why don't you go home for the
day? Take the day off to relax & rest.'

'Thanks, but I'd be better off here.
I need to keep my mind off it &
I have the best chance of doing that here.'

The boss agrees & allows the blonde to work as usual.
A couple of hours pass & the boss decides to check on the blonde.
He looks out from his office & sees the blonde crying hysterically...

'What's so bad now? Are you gonna be okay?' he asks.

'No!' exclaims the blonde.
'I just received a horrible call from my
sister. Her mother died, too!'
Blondes Are The Best!!!

Clarification For "Found On The Net"

Just to be clear on the "Found on The Net" posting, I am not advocating this information is 100%. This will always be the case when one dives into murky waters. So with that said, for clarification purposes here is my response to any comments, or questions.

With respect to the link,:http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/fooddrink/a/barcodes.htm it does state the information is "misleading and unreliable". But, and you know there is always a "But". It does not 100% discredit the information. Hence, the quoted final analysis: "The U.S. Food & Drug Administration mandates country-of-origin labeling on many food products, but there are exceptions, most notably the entire category of "processed foods." Consumer groups are currently advocating the closure of these loopholes."

That is for me a key word. "Exceptions". Naturally, all Food Lobbying Groups wish to keep this "Exception". One would suspect the reasoning behind such is the possible fact many "Consumers" would avoid buying such products when empowered with the knowledge of "Country of Origin".

Small Things To Look For

Found on the web, and yet this is something our media decided to hardly mention. They (The Media) think it's best we be bombarded with a pedophile every 3 minutes, as opposed to keeping us informed of the coordinated brutal attacks against its own citizens demanding simply, accountability.

Next week, they will begin the subliminal campaign of "GO SHOPPING" in the concentrated effort to once again, keep us uninformed. There are bright spots one can go, for keeping abreast of the suppression of constitutional rights. Countdown with Keith, Maddow, Ed, and Lawrence are always your best bet. The only way anyone could catch the truth on Lucifer's slanderous channel (FOX), would be to have an actual "LIVE FEED" with zero commentary before they get it in the editing room. Hell, one of its leading "Pinheads" couldn't even get the date right on when the "Oval Office" was added. If there ever was a proofreader, epic fail.

Yet I must digress, and share this interesting posting from the web.:

Look for 0

ALWAYS READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY--NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND READ THE BACK---CAREFULLY!
With all the food and pet products now coming from China , it is best to make sure you read label at the grocery store and especially Walmart when buying food products.
Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. It is important to read the bar code to track it's origin.
How to read Bar Codes ....

Interesting!
This may be useful to know when grocery shopping, if it's a concern To you.

GREAT WAY TO "BUY USA & CANADA " AND NOT FROM CHINA!!

The whole world is concerned about China-made "black heart-ed goods".
Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ?
If the first 3 digits of the bar-code are 690691 or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.
471 is Made in Taiwan .
This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public,
Therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.
Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer Products "MADE IN CHINA ",
So they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the bar-code - remember if the first 3 digits are:
690-692 ... then it is MADE IN CHINA
00 - 09 ... USA & CANADA
30 - 37 FRANCE
40 - 44 GERMANY
471 ... Taiwan

49 ...JAPAN
50 ... UK
BUY USA & CANADIAN MADE by Watching
For "0" at the Beginning of the number.
We need every boost we can get!
Pass this on to everybody on your E-Mail Contact List!!

If the government won't help us,
We MUST help ourselves.

Aldermen: Tax cigars, chewing tobacco to reduce budget cuts - Chicago Sun-Times

Aldermen: Tax cigars, chewing tobacco to reduce budget cuts - Chicago Sun-Times

Can anyone explain how these two products were never considered when politicians went on a cigarette warpath? WTF? It's 2011 and all of a sudden we have this spectacular brain fart? This should have been done years ago.

You politicians sit there, and give away our hard earned revenue to companies that don't come close to deserving it. Then you turn around, scream the city is broke. You then slash programs, cut funding, pick on police, fire, and teachers, while these crooks at "Financial Companies" get reduced taxes just to stay here, and contribute nothing to our society? Something is wrong with this picture. I'm very curious to see the amount of property taxes paid by CME, and compare that to ALL homeowners. I think my jaw may have to be surgically replaced.

Look, I have zero problem with you guys, and gals taxing the hell out of smokes, but when did you come to the realization cigars, and chew was slipping under the radar? Were you in a coma? Please, go right ahead and tax it. But you better start having a serious discussion on legalizing, and regulating marijuana if you ever want to get your bad math budgets in order. You don't give away surplus funds to companies that don't need, or deserve them. You use that surplus by re-investing in our roads, transit, schools, police, fire, and teachers.

Bottom line, imagine how many affordable housing units 700 million bucks could build for our returning, homeless, and current veterans? Yes, this, and other good math things, should have been done years ago. WTF!

Evanston moves closer to lowering penalty for marijuana possession

Short and sweet today.

Common sense prevails at last. Go ahead and compare booze related accidents, and deaths to marijuana. Go ahead, I'll wait. Stunning isn't it? Now, just go ahead and legalize it, tax it, and use the exact same standards employers use in the workplace for any substance abuse violations.

Financial exchanges chief gets frosty welcome in Springfield - Chicago Sun-Times

Financial exchanges chief gets frosty welcome in Springfield - Chicago Sun-Times

"Frosty"? Boy that's an understatement.

They have money hand over fist, and only want more so they can continue destroying the middle class. Why a tax cut for gamblers? That just doesn't make any sense. Face the facts folks, that is exactly what they are, gamblers. They take, and make bets. Who do they employ? More gamblers, and low wage workers that clean up behind them. So why give them a tax cut? What exactly do they contribute to society? The average working man and woman don't do the things they do. So why should we give them a tax cut?

If they want to move to another state, or overseas, so be it. Remember that article posted a week ago with that quote? We are talking around 700 million dollars in lost state revenue if we go down this road and give in to such ridiculous demands. That's money we could use for improving our roads, transit, schools, police, and fire systems.

Let them leave so we can take their buildings and convert them into housing for our returning veterans and their families. Imagine the jobs that one project alone would have on this cities economy? Think of the construction, carpentry, and masonry jobs that could be created? So let them leave to fleece another gullible mayor and governor, who will have no other choice but to raise taxes on the poor, and middle class while these millionaires, and billionaires walk between the raindrops, and shower litter upon the people who gave them a tax cut. Yeah, "Frosty" sure is an understatement.

Littering & Assault? No Charges Filed:

Yes folks according to city code, these lawbreakers are indeed in violation of our littering laws, and possibly assault charges for "Dumping" this on citizens holding a peaceful protest.

Where's the Mayor? Where's the Police Superintendent? Where's the District Attorney of the county and state? Why haven't charges been filed? This is one of the reason for these protest. Once again the upper echelon of class clearly violate the laws of the land, and no charges, or person is held accountable. Did the "Occupy People" have to clean up the littering done by these lawbreakers? Possibly. Did any police officer go into the building and issue tickets for littering, or possible charges for assault? NOPE! Will the person in-charge of these lawbreaking, litter-bug workers discipline them for violating the law? Of course not.

So once again the upper echelon gets away with breaking the law, and so far, nothing is done to hold them accountable. Now do you see why they are out there protesting? These people need to be held accountable. They clearly violated our littering laws, while asking our elected leaders for a tax break. They think what they did was funny. It clearly isn't. They should be fined, and do some community service.

Mr. Mayor, Superintendent, County and State Attorney, hold them accountable. Such behavior should never be tolerated on innocent citizens practicing their constitutional rights. Charge them, fine them, hold them accountable. They are not above the law.

Time for a level-headed approach to business, taxes

Time for a level-headed approach to business, taxes

This comment here speaks volumes, and is exactly what has been on my mind for years.

"One of the problems in economics is the seen versus the unseen," the Tax Foundation's Robyn said. "We see a big corporation leave our state and take 1,000 jobs, and that's very visible and we say, 'We've got to keep those jobs here.' But what you don't see is when those 1,000 jobs leave, what other opportunities open up in the state or, more importantly, if you buy them off and give them all this money to stay, what you don't see is the opportunity you lost with that revenue. You could have used that money for something else."

I do hope the Mayor, and Governor read, and act upon such grand logic.

User says her marijuana is ‘like a fine glass of wine,’ should be legal - Chicago Sun-Times

I don't know about that statement, but it should be legal.

Just look at the bang up job they did with alcohol during prohibition. Hell even today, they can't stop people from drinking and driving. So go ahead, legalize pot. I'll bet you traffic accidents will remain about the same levels they are now. Pot-Heads keep their snacks in arms length because they are to stoned to get off the couch and walk too the fridge. They stock up on munchies while out driving so they don't have to go back out. Don't believe me? Go ahead and ask one of them to take you somewhere after they have already stocked up. All you will hear from them is; What?

Full disclosure. I used to smoke it decades ago, but I don't now. I stayed in school, got my diploma, and college degree like so many of the rest of Americans. So legalize it, and tax it just like you do booze, and cigarettes. Employers should have the same standards they use now, when workers come in under the influence. There's really no need to change existing laws except, legalizing pot and putting it to current laws already in-place.

Concealed weapons allowed in Wisconsin Assembly's public galleries

Concealed weapons allowed in Wisconsin Assembly's public galleries

Wow! This is just beyond sanity.

These are the most reckless, thoughtless, can't see the forest for the trees politicians I have witnessed in my adult years on this planet. Why on this earth do they want to place in direct jeopardy, law enforcement and innocent civilians in the gun-sights of some ticked-off constituent? These GOP mental cases have no idea the carnage they may soon inflict upon the public by passing such an irresponsible law, and at the same stroke of a pen, making it more difficult for its people to cast a vote.

Here's a little history lesson for you knuckle-dragging Neanderthals that call yourself Republicans. In California during the 1960's it was legal for citizens to carry around firearms. Well, there was this group called the Black Panther Party that decided since it's the law, they might as well arm themselves within the law to stave off any attempts at aggression against them. Well good old Ronald Reagan, and other lawmakers thought; Oh shit! We have to infringe on everyone's second amendment rights because the people of color can do like we do. So they passed more legislation banning firearms in public. Fast forward. These moronic GOP Neanderthals are doing the exact same thing with one difference. Allowing citizens the right to carry "Concealed" firearms into the public galleries.

You are placing police in a very bad position. You are placing citizens that choose not to carry, in a very bad position. What in hell do you think you are going to accomplish by doing this?

I've stated before, and shall do so again. I'm all for The Second Amendment. But there must be sane, reasonable restrictions that go along with it. You know, for felons, and the mentally unstable. But this, this repulsive, life-threatening, zealotry of arming people to attend public galleries with a concealed weapon is just beyond recklessness. It's simply insane.

Emanuel undecided on marijuana ticket measure

Emanuel undecided on marijuana ticket measure

A 200 buck fine? Oh please!

First off, you know damn well they can't pay that. You will still have a problem with who, or should I say, what majority of minorities will get ticketed. So issuing 200 buck tickets, that you will have a very hard time attempting to collect, isn't a solution. Nice try though. But here's the flaw in your logic. They don't, or can't pay, they still overburden the criminal justice system. It's simply sweeping more dirt under the carpet. Eventually you will have to replace it.

So get smart, get busy by challenging the ATF, DEA, and Justice departments. Go with the "States Rights" and legalize it and treat it with the same offenses, fines, punishments that drinking entails. Once again, it's not pocket science, it's basic math. Hundreds of millions in additional revenue for the city and state, less crowding of our courts, and penal institutions.

Stop showing fear. Legalize it, and sit-back and enjoy the ride. Why? 200 buck fine that we all know you just can't collect.

Virginia GOP says Halloween-themed email over the top

Virginia GOP says Halloween-themed email over the top

My two cents.

This is just another example of pure hatred, and bigotry. I don't want that lame excuse of "We didn't Know", or "It was just a joke". This was simply intentional, and demonstrates the true feelings of a group of bigoted, ignorant, spiteful, low life-forms on this earth. This is truly a "Charles Manson Mindset" of stirring up anger from women, and minorities by publishing such ignorance, in their desperate hope of causing a fabled "Race War", so they can sit on their bigoted butts and scream "See I Told You". Garbage such as this happens when you close your mind to the world around you. It seems apparent there are no Blacks, and free thinking women in this group of GOP Neanderthal's that for some illogical reason believe they are a superior race. If there was, shame on them for condoning such repulsive graphics. And yes folks, there will be such small-minded throwbacks that will condone, or make a extremely lame excuse for such behavior. And when they do, feel free to disavow, and disassociate yourself from such ignorant throwbacks.

What's next GOP, Salem Witch Hunts?

Motorola to cut 185 jobs in Illinois - Chicago Sun-Times

Motorola to cut 185 jobs in Illinois - Chicago Sun-Times

Will someone remind me why they got a tax cut? Wasn't the reason for giving that to them, was a, "Sure we'll hire people, and not fire them, as long as you let us steal from the people excuse? The same thing will happen to ComEd workers, and all the other employees from other companies that scammed taxpayers, and paid-off our legislators.

Funny how the times appear to replicate the past. No sooner NAFTA became law, jobs just vanished from American shores. Now NAFTA Jr. is the norm, and behold job cuts.

So please remind me why we even bother giving companies tax cuts? Oh, and please no smoke blowing up the...

Media Doesn't Matter

Nice response to this "AP" article. We the people are very much aware of the misinformation the media heaps upon us. It has indeed became a very sad day, when the people who's motto was "Objective, UN-Biased, and Integrity", has now become daily fodder for Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert.

"This is so disingenuous! The article starts off presuming that Barack Obama is somehow responsible for the state of the economy! What horse-crap!

The OBAMA healthcare bill would have put millions (billions?) of small business dollars back into the economy. Duh.

The OBAMA job program would have put thousands -- no, millions of people back to work. Duh.

The Republican plan for jobs is a blank page. They still claim that "trickle down" economics works, even though we tried that from 1980 to 1984, when it was abandoned as not working by Ronald Reagan, and again from 2003 to the present, and it's OBVIOUSLY not working. Making the wealthy more wealthy does not make the poor more wealthy. DUH!

The overall GOP (God's Own Party) economic plan is identical to what they tried to do with Herbert Hoover -- SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! What did we get? The most horrible depression the world has ever known.

Governments make money only through taxes. When there are no wages there are no taxes. It took FDR to get people working again through various programs to get the economy restarted. The Government is the only source large enough to prime the pump and get the cash flowing again.

BOA charging $5 for use of the debit card??? If they want to make money, why don't they try LENDING IT!!! That's an old fashioned idea, I know, but it worked for years and years, back in the days when people did not have to pay to walk in the bank's door.

Even Henry Ford knew in 1920 that if his workers had a decent wage, they'd be able to buy his cars. That simple logic is lost on today's Republicans. They've opted for the Guatemalan model, the very rich and the very poor, and of course they intend to be the very rich. We're already on the road to this 2-class system evidenced by the vast difference between top management wages and worker wages.

DUH DUH DUH and DUMB DUMB DUMB -- these are the only way I can classify Republican thinking. Oops-- thinking??? Sorry, I've given them far too much credit. They share a brain so I guess it is sometimes possible, but that's rare.

Hey, we're right back to the OBVIOUS FACT. THE BASTARDS CAN'T STAND THAT WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT!!! They don't even get it - if there's anything to get - that as half black and half white he's absolutely perfect for this country!

Crappy articles like the one below point a finger to what is NOT the problem and do a terrible disservice by not focusing on what is really going on."

Madigan wants to set limits on union wages, benefits

I want what's good for the goose to be also good for the gander.

If you are successful at this Mr. Madigan, I truly hope you set the same limits on yourself and all elected officials in this State. Let's first start by ending multiple pensions for all of you that sit on different committees?

Remember, do unto to others...

Electrical workers rally around ComEd bill

Electrical workers rally around ComEd bill

Boy, I've seen this movie before.

ComEd feeds its employees the good old "Job Security Speech", and possibly paid off union leaders, for showing fake support for this consumer rape bill, and will then turn right around and lay workers off, if this is ever passed. Yep, I have seen this movie before. It was titled "NAFTA". It did pretty bad at the "American Worker Box Office", as thousands of workers lost job after job, when companies packed up and went south of the border, and overseas.

ComEd may not pack up and go south of the border and overseas, but they will come up with a "We just can't afford hiring more workers excuse, and need to cut what we have approach". Yep, I have definitely seen this movie before.

Democratic senator seeks to override Quinn veto with new ComEd bill - Chicago Sun-Times

Me thinks someone got paid off?

Check this out. Quinn, 1.3 + 1.3 = 2.6. Now here comes this dudes math. 1.5 + 1.1 = 2.6. Yet they (Utilities) still get to bend you over a table and get a rate/rape increase. Who's going to make them pay up when they refuse to hire anyone? The Senator? Hell no. I can already hear the excuses. Cost overruns, inflation this, and that, profits are down, and the famous we have to Scale Back.

This "Bill" is a complete joke.

10 things you might not know about class warfare

10 things you might not know about class warfare

Here's 11, and then some. Every time the "Poor" are oppressed, it never works out well for the oppressor. Now, that's not a threat, it's just a historical fact.

When people get fed up with being subjected to any form of tyranny, and oppression, they demonstrate, protest, suffer brutality, and in many cases, death at the hands of the oppressor. Throughout history, such tactics has always been the demise of such oppressive acts. For instance, since the demise of "Jim Crow", oppressors here in the United States have been plotting for ways to re-institute it. The method they chose was a "Voter Identification Card". But here's the rub. They are for that, but against a "National Identification Card" for all American Citizens. Yeah, go figure. The insane logic behind such a card, is voter fraud. But what we all know is, this is not, and never was the case. The facts just don't support this false claim. For a group of people that claim to be the "Fiscally Responsible", such a State by State voter identification law will be highly fiscally irresponsible. The math is there for anyone to bean count. A National Identification system on the other hand, less expensive, and also helps combat illegal immigration.

From my viewpoint, the "Occupy Movement" is about breaking the shackles of oppression in all the forms it comes in. Economic, social, and cultural. As those in power continue the destruction of a class of people who basically, are just demanding accountability. The time has arrived for such change to begin. No oppressors, they will not pack up the tents and go home. They will stay, educate, and awake the sleeping masses of the oppression you have brought upon this country.

There is an old adage that goes; "You will earn your keep by the sweat of your brow." That's all we have done, only to have you take it away with voter suppression antics, stripping collective bargaining antics, the grand Ponzi Scheme dubbed the 401k (I knew that was a major scam from the get go), and making young students debt slaves. That is not an American Dream. It is an oppressive nightmare that we sadly, allowed you to inflict upon us with zero accountability. And that, is a historical fact.

Preckwinkle: Jailing juveniles costs more than Harvard tuition - Chicago Sun-Times

Preckwinkle: Jailing juveniles costs more than Harvard tuition - Chicago Sun-Times

No truer words spoken folks. Now for the fun part, fixing, or better yet, coming towards a solution for this epidemic.

As for myself, I suggest those major perks we shower prisoners, and detainees with, must be eliminated from these budgets, and more emphasis on education while incarcerated, or detained. That simply entails, no more gym equipment. Let them walk, do calisthenics, jog, a "Boot Camp" type workout that recruits endure, where there was, and possibly still is, no weights involved. It's a hell of a lot cheaper. They should replace all of that unnecessary equipment with teachers/tutors putting emphasis on these youths obtaining a GED, or high school diploma. After doing such, once the student loan failure is addressed, an emphasis on encouraging them to pursue higher learning.

Now that seems like a very good approach. Get rid of wasteful equipment that serves no purpose in our jail, prison, and detention institutions, and replace such with books, teachers/tutors, and a goal. It will have an impact on recidivism rates, and give hope, and opportunity to those that have felt that there was none. Though it may be true we haven't come up with a cure for the common cold, we can surely come up with a cure/solution for an epidemic of this nature.

Senate president to push for CME, CBOE tax relief - Chicago Sun-Times

Senate president to push for CME, CBOE tax relief - Chicago Sun-Times

Talk about Tone Deaf.

Apparently the Senate President is not aware that by giving these entities MORE tax cuts, they will in essence turn around and stick it to the people, police, fire, teachers, and the already bare boned social services within this State.

Look, running a government is all about providing services to the people via generating revenue. That's why we elected you in the first place, not caving in to your handlers. That boils down to paying our, again I say, OUR fair share in taxes, including such entities that don't need a decrease. Ask yourself this question. Where's the accounting books from these Private institutions, that demand they need to pay less in tax revenue? They will not produce them because they will claim it is a privacy issue, and the public doesn't have a "Need To Know". Well, when you are asking us to give up police, fire, teachers, transportation, and infrastructure workers, I think we do need a peek at your books.

There is a reason people are at these "Occupy" events. It's because of politicians like this, that continue catering to the greed merchants beck and whim of letting them, walk between the raindrops, and increase the tax storm upon the people. These entities threaten the men and women we, yes we, elected of withholding campaign contributions, employing slanderous, and false advertising, and last but not least, screaming they will MOVE. Now should they move, who would that effect? The low wage sanitation men and women they hired, some restaurants, the security contractors, mail-room clerks? Yes. But for those making over a hundred grand or more, not so much.

The bottom line Mr. Senate President. Don't cave in to the "Haves". If they threaten you elected officials with "Moving Out", so be it. Let them go to another State that will not stand up for the people that put them into office. See how that will play out come the next election cycle. The time for being Tone Deaf is coming to an end. So do the people a favor, just stop it.

Ald. Burke opposes Emanuel on charging religious schools for water

Ald. Burke opposes Emanuel on charging religious schools for water

Where's the Tea Party Now? Someone should step up and let them know the free lunch is over. They don't pay property taxes, but want so much to be involved in shoving their religious beliefs on anyone within earshot. They go out on a limb via name-calling on people of other beliefs, but when it comes to them, we must be hands off. Well here's a news flash religious schools. You are just as human as the next man and woman, and therefore deserve no special favors as the rest of us.

You see we have this thing called "Separation of Church and State". Check it out, it's in the Constitution. So in other words, if you think not paying your fair share for the same water we all drink, I suggest arming staff, and students with digging equipment and look for some wells in the ground.

And as for you Mr. Burke. Still enjoying that police protection we the people are paying for? You of all people have some stones throwing your little two cents into this ripoff on taxpayers.
