Daley ready to respond if Chicago's handgun ban overturned :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: City Hall

Damn! I couldn't have said it any better then Alderman Burke. Mayor Daley is poised to do his famous money grab once this unconstitutional ban is struck down. And trust me, it will get struck down.

I've stated before, any law abiding citizen does not have a problem with registering their gun purchase. They do not have a problem with having ballistic test either. But the do have a problem with a Mayor that doesn't, I repeat, doesn't have a facility within city limits that could provide for weapons training. All of that money will go straight to the suburbs, not the city. Economics 101 King Daley. If you make citizens go and pay for training, your crying broke will continue. Just stop trying to find new ways for fleecing decent law abiding citizens with such a crazy idea of weapons training, when the city will not profit from it.

Stick with registering guns, and ballistic test. That way our law enforcement will have the knowledge of tracking down stolen guns. Do yourself a favor, and listen, or read the alderman's quote. In the event you missed it, here it is again. It's so true.

“Just in the last 60 days, we’ve seen three instances where law-abiding citizens who had possession of a weapon in their home shot and/or killed violent offenders in their home or in the vicinity of their home. It’s noteworthy that no one has prosecuted those law-abiding citizens. Probably, we oughta pass a city ordinance and give ‘em each a medal.”

In that sense, Burke argued that a city registration put in place after the ban is overturned might be an improvement.

“Nobody can register it, so the city doesn’t know. Is it not better that the city knows who has a gun?” the alderman said.
