Boy shot while walking dog on West Side :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Metro & Tri-State

Boy shot while walking dog on West Side :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Metro & Tri-State

Shared via AddThis

Wow. Our dear Mayor wants the Olympics so bad, a kid can't even walk his dog without getting shot by criminals who have access to guns. Let me see, how can we fix this problem? Oh I got it. Dump the Olympic bid, and use the money to hire more police.

Sounds like a plan doesn't it? But you know our Mayor. That just isn't going to happen. Remember one of his promises a long time ago, when community policing was getting underway here? Cops walking a beat, I believe he exclaimed. Has anyone seen any walking a beat? And by the way, where is he going to get the money to pay for his fight with the Supreme Court on the "handgun ban" issue? Most of the surrounding suburbs have dropped their respective bans since the court ruling, D.C. vs Heller. Not the Great King Daley.

It is such a shame that a young kid out walking his dog, has to be the subject of violence, simply because our Mayor has his priorities totally screwed-up. Now the kid has to miss time from school to heal. Will you come over Mayor and walk the dog? You know, because the kid can't.

Thanks Mayor.

Sounds like someone is afraid of something. The bottom line here folks, is that NO person is above the law. So here you have this guy, with nearly zero credibility, still attempting to twist the truth, yet again.

If you screwed up, admit it. That's what being an adult is all about. If you have to make up stories (LIE), you are not an adult. Take your medicine, like an adult would. Naturally the only outlet where you can make up anything, happily obliges this guy without challenging him based on facts. Hell, he'll come on there and insist the Sun rises in the West and sets in the East, and the enablers at Fox will never challenge him.

This man Dick, has no respect for our Constitution. He's proven that. They lied to get us in Iraq. Everyone knows that. Should any investigation lead to him, and others, so be it. Grow up, deal with it, because those that were told to violate the law, will not go down by themselves. They will give all involved up. That's what we call plea-bargaining Dick. Maybe you never heard of that. Then again, maybe you have. Hence all the crying.

So Dick, quit crying, and Act Like A Man.

1 in 5 Chicago Public High School teachers say they felt pressure to change grades last school year :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Education

Here we go again. Why do these "educated" big shots insist on depriving our children, regardless of special needs, cheat them from a quality education? If the child needs extra help, that is where the teachers and parents come in. For these well-paid honchos running our school system, to put pressure on the teachers to just let it slide, is simply disgusting and outrageous.

Parents should be storming the Board of Education and The Mayor's office. After all, the Mayor is the one who took control of the city's schools. We all know what this underhanded passing grades scam is about. Money, plain and simple. Our property taxes is not enough to fill their already bloated pockets. Oh no they need those extra federal dollars to keep living the high life while children suffer.

It's time to clean house in Chicago.

They Want The Country Back; From What or Whom?

You've heard the cry's. Let's take our country back, or government is not the answer. Okay fine go right ahead. Since government isn't the answer, do away with Social Security, Medicare, treatment centers for substance abuse, after school programs, hell school breakfast and lunch, and to the States Medicaid. Do away with safety belts in automobiles, going right through a non-safety windshield is more fun. And for that matter, since government is the problem, bring back asbestos, and all those great little pesticides government banned. Once you offer those suggestions, the "I didn't really think this through crowd" backs off.

Now sit back and really, really think why certain people have this idea of our country being hijacked by government. First ask yourself, where were they eight years ago? That's when the great slide to the all mighty dollar began. True it started years before, under other republican presidencies. Start with Nixon. He and the corporate greed monsters began the dismemberment of health care (rationing). Reagan, and the "government is the problem" speech. What did he do? Fire air traffic controllers just because they wanted a raise and decent working hours. Talk about fighting against working men and women. And by the way, don't forget the great "Crack Cocaine" explosion under his watch. Makes you wonder how they would solve that problem. Oh wait, government. Those same ilk of people doing the screaming now would be banging on old Uncle Sams' door pleading for help, to rid the community of this scourge. Which they did.

Yes, you can go on and on pointing to direct facts to prove these students of "that never happened in history crowd" wrong. But you really have to dig deep, to see the real reason behind this latest (but certainly not new) hate-mongering. They use such "code words" this isn't what the Founding Fathers wanted. How would they know that? Surely the Founding Fathers could never imagine the greed merchants trying to take over our country. Oh wait, they did. Remember the big fight over a "National Banking system"? They must have had an idea of the possible outcomes. You can bet they knew once deregulation became the norm, the country would self-implode on its-self. That's the sole reason past presidents (except for the dunce that removed them and caused The Great Depression) kept regulations in place, and passed legislation when new threats of greed became apparent.

In a nutshell, this screaming and hate-filled rhetoric being bandied about these days, are solely based on race. Many will never admit to being a racist, and that is only because it is not fashionable to wear a sheet in public. Doing such, people would know to stay far away from them. So instead of the sheet, they put on a suit or wear a dress. Need proof? Look no further than Limbaugh, Levin, and Beck. Take Levin for instance. I had the opportunity to here a snippet from his radio show where he bellowed; (paraphrasing here) "we are not the ones carrying signs of Nazi symbols and Hitler or Obama with a Hitler mustache", or words to that effect. And then there were a couple of moronic congressional representatives, that made ugly, disgusting comments. One from California thanking a buffoon and calling said buffoon a "Great American", because the buffoon is a "Right-Wing Terrorist". Newsflash, Tim McVeigh was a Right-Wing Terrorist. Hey congressman, tell the families of the Oklahoma bombing how proud you are of the buffoon. Congresswoman Jenkins (should be Jerk) from Kansas said the party "Needs a Great White Hope". Now what does that statement say to people with common-sense? Well besides moron.

Throughout history, hatred never wins. It rears its ugly head from time to time, just to let us know we haven't stamped it completely out yet. Now we have the misinformed out there in town-halls across the country defending the Insurance and Pharmaceutical Industries. Think about that for a minute. They are defending the institutions that denied either them, or someone they know coverage or a claim. Why? Is it because the man in the White House is not of the same hue? If they are saying, we have to take our country back, it just may be. Sure they will never, ever admit to holding a racist bone in their body. But just listen for those "code-words". Take our country back, socialism, he not American. I wonder what would they say if we really took Mexico during the Mexican-American war of 1846-1848? What would they say when a person of Hispanic decent finally takes the White House? You can bet, it will get even uglier.

On that note I leave you with a famous saying, so next time you decide to defend corporations that don't care about you, only how many nickles and dimes you have in your purse or pocket. "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to gain entry into heaven". Hate never wins, so drop the code-words folks and just say what's on your mind. You know, like Fidel Castro did. Want the link? It's at the top. But here it is again in case you missed it. http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-08-25-voa33.cfm

Top cop Weis: Fight lawsuits, don't settle :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: News

Shared via AddThis

Wow, I guess the Top Cop didn't clear this with King Daley. You know, our always crying broke Mayor. Should the Law Department undertake this request, it's going to cost the city a ton of money.

People do sue because a wrong has been done to them. So it's logical to think that settling such matters is the best and only option. To fight cases of police harassment, unlawful search and seizure, denial of due process, and other violations of the Constitution, both federal and state, is a good way of bringing problems into the light.

Now I agree that from time to time, some cases do hit the "merit-less" avenue. The majority of the time, such cases are thrown-out. Yet the question here, is how many of these lawsuits does this Superintendent think are "merit-less"? There are good cops, and there are bad cops. If a suit goes to trial, and the wronged party wins, does the officer get fired? Many of these "settled suits" do not carry such major results. The offending officer, or officers continue to keep their jobs.

For a city that needs money, this doesn't seem to be a practical approach. But I'm sure the Olympics will pay for it. Not.

You have to stand-up and commend such people for taking a stand to help our nations youth. Yet the disturbing trend here, is the absence of the parents due to divorce, jail, or substance abuse.

There was a time when you would go visit your grandparents for vacation. You would help them out with chores, eat good old fashioned home cooking, and just enjoy the time spent. These days, the grandparents are raising their grandchildren, and ofttimes continue to raise their own.

Bless them for they know the ways of right and wrong. They have great wisdom that they freely give to us all. Sadly it breaks their hearts when we don't follow it. Parents, wake up. Stop making your children suffer because you can't get your act together. Grandparents are supposed to relax and enjoy the rest of their lives after they have completed the job of raising you. It's time for you to demonstrate the lessons they so freely gave you.

A classic case of what is the future, if no health care reform is passed. This is exactly what the Republican party, and insurance companies want. People with pre-existing conditions are in trouble despite the fact they are out there in the trenches working.

Just for a moment, stop the nonsense of lying about the legislation in the House of Representatives and think of these people's families that may also have pre-existing conditions. This is the best example of the need for health care reform. This should never happen to any American.

It's time to stand up and be heard America.

"We screwed up"??? Is that the best he can do? How about taking the money you stole from the citizens for a useless Olympics? How about using the money you swiped from us, and get these kids with guns off the streets?

This Mayor knew exactly what he was doing when he sold this city down the toilet. His fingerprints are all over this "parking meter deal", and the best he can say is he screwed up. If that isn't the understatement of the year.

In all honesty, this Mayor/King has been screwing the City of Chicago from day one. Yet the people keep electing him. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Well you get what you vote for. Every time a candidate with potential wants to get in and run, this guy always finds a way to make them drop-out. If you don't believe that, just look no further then the Cook County race for Board President. The most qualified person dropped out. We get stuck with Todd.

First chance I get, I'm out of this city, and county. Unless we wake up and elect someone sane.

Finally, it takes the kids to get to the source of the problem. That says a lot about the "Adults" running the schools doesn't it?

Here we have a group of kids going straight to the source, and getting the feedback that everyone either already knew, or suspected. All in all, these are very good suggestions, and should be implemented across the nation.

It truly would be a fantastic aspiration should the Secretary of Education takes these recommendations to heart and begin implementation.

Kudos kids.

Mexico decriminalizes small-scale drug possession :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: World

Shared via AddThis

This is not a very smart way to capitalize on additional revenue for this government. If they would just legalize marijuana, Mexico's economy will see an uptick. As for the "harsher drugs", they have to have a major crackdown.

Common sense tells you that giving a "crack-head" or junkie a pass to continue criminal activity, is just a bad move. Those "hard-drug" users are the ones on the path of self-destruction. Some can overcome the habit, but many don't. They either die from an overdose, or get killed attempting to rob, or steal from a person that isn't going to stand for it.

In all honesty, Mexico and the United States, needs to seriously consider the legalization of marijuana. The argument time, and time again is the increase in revenue for states, counties, and villages across the land. We are talking billions of dollars a year folks. Imagine the additional police, fire, doctors, teachers, "EMT's, social workers, and treatment specialist such extra revenue can generate.

Mexico needs to re-think this bad strategy. The United States, needs to legalize marijuana, and show the rest of the world how to put that extra revenue to use.

One of these days, this epidemic will subside, or cure itself. Other than that, the people that "Duped" the many into homes they could never afford, will receive their comeuppance.

Yes you can "Blame" the people that took the loans. But you can also blame the banks for even accepting/approving the loan application. All the banks saw was more money. They didn't care if the people could afford the homes, because it was a "win, win" for them. Because of such actions, banks also have to be held accountable.

I call on all "State Attorney's" to look into some of these loan applications, and inquire on why they would approve a loan that they knew (the banks), could not be maintained. In any business, this is just bad decision-making. And any person approving such "risky deals", should have been removed from that position.

All in all, people/families will continue to lose that slice of the American dream because of greed. And folks, that's just not the way to do business.

'Most significant drug conspiracy' busted in Chicago :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime

Shared via AddThis

You have to wonder how this garbage made it all the way to Chicago in the first place. How many "drug-sniffing" dogs are on the border? Who got "paid" to let this junk make it this far?

These are the questions that should be asked. Nevertheless, they are not. The infamous "blinds-eye" is always the case in the evolution of journalism. The new motto should be "We report what we want, and you can't decide if we are fair, right, or wrong". Here's another question. When they do "seize" the 1.8 billion dollars in cash, what happens to it?

Once again, it is time to legalize and tax marijuana. Doing this frees up the DEA and other law enforcement agencies to get the "Real Drugs" off the streets. Cocaine and Heroin trafficking should come with a "new" 50 to life prison sentence. The laws must evolve with the criminals. A clear message must be sent, so that they understand we are serious.

That's my take, you decide if I'm fair, right, or wrong.

Classic gold baby. Now this is how a person should handle those challenged by lies. Now don't get me wrong, there are some "Serious" questions that should be asked at these meetings. But when a person has an agenda, like calling or comparing people and government to Hitler and the Nazi party, you need to tell them where to get off.

Those type of people have no legitimate interest in fixing what is broken. All they seek is that proverbial "15 minutes of fame". The select few that do make it to the "27/7 news cycle, look exactly like the "Deer in the headlights". They can't articulate any point. And they have no idea, or facts to back up the point they were attempting to make.

I agree with Mr. Frank. Paraphrasing here, talking to them is exactly like talking to a table. You just get nowhere.

Police nab 3 teens who punched texting man during robbery :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime

There is something very wrong with our nations youth. The age-old story of the strong singling out the weak, is proven time and again, no matter age difference. Yet the increase in attacks by youths, begs one to question the parent/(s).

Are the children in school on a regular basis? Why are they out on the streets with an 18 year old or older? Why have they chose to rob, shoot, deal drugs, and engage in other illegal activity? Where are the adults in these youths lives? Where are the pastors, ministers, preachers, rabbis, and clerics? Why are they not assisting police by patrolling the streets with their respective congregations? Why are they not offering alternatives to these kids? What are these congregations doing with that "Faith-Based Initiative" money?

What's the alternative? Build more detention facilities? I have a suggestion. Raise the sentencing guidelines. Make probation a last resort option. Make the parent/(s) pay a higher fine. Lastly, legalize and tax marijuana. Doing such will unleash funding for more police, social programs, and job opportunities. There is something wrong with our nations youth. And these may be some solutions to attempt to correct it.

Okay, some things make sense, and some things just don't. This is one of those things, that just do not make any sense at all. Why on God's green earth, would anyone want guns in National Parks?

The NRA and Republicans have completely lost their collective minds on this issue. I'm all for the Second Amendment. But you just have to use a little common sense. I guess it doesn't matter to them that kids are at these parks. These people want a double standard. They want people that live in conceal/carry states to take their guns with them to other states, that don't have conceal/carry laws. Does that make any sense? Such legislation tramples on "States Rights". And they claim to be proponents of "States Rights". Ironic, isn't it? Better still, moronic is a better word.

Guns, drunks, National Parks. Oh what a world.

Durbin: Obama ready to deal on health care :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: 44: Barack Obama

Shared via AddThis

I have to admit, Senator Durbin is doing this "meeting" thing right. Meet with small business owners and get the skinny on what's on their minds, and what they would like to see in this legislation. The next move is going out to the people, get their perspective, combine them all together, and come up with legislation for the good of all.

I've took an interest in watching some of these town-hall meetings, and have to say, it's a mixed bag depending on which party you watch. Naturally, the republican side is anti-Obama, so it's no surprise when you watch those meetings, the hate is just at a fever pitch. On the democratic side, much misinformation has filtered into those town-halls.

Some of the questions asked, just do not have anything to do with health care. The majority question asked congressional representatives is; "What part of the Constitution gives Government the authority to initiate health care reform"? Well that's easy to answer. The legislative body, the Congress, permitted it passes judicial standards.

Other than that, I don't understand why people, poor, middle class, and such, are shilling for the insurance and pharmaceutical industries. I guess old Forrest Gump was right. "Stupid is, as Stupid does".

Some serious blow back is going down with certain personalities using such language. One in particular is losing advertisers like putting air in a flat tire. Yet the question that isn't asked often, why haven't more punitive measures been taken?

This is dangerous, and explosive behavior. On its face, it's extremely offensive. And yet, to this very day, not one of these people are being held to account. Where are the "Top Cops", District Attorney's, States Attorney's, U.S. Attorney's on this matter? Where are the fines from the FCC, for "joking" on air, of "putting poison" in the Speaker of the House drink?

And what about "The Real Spokesman of the Republican Party"? This person has a proven track record of bigoted comments. He's even lost a job for disparaging a Black athlete. He's also attacked "Veterans" that have called-in to voice simple disagreement with him. Yet he's still on the radio comparing people to Hitler and the Nazi party. I don't know about you, but this tells me the bosses in charge really condone such talk. I say this because he hasn't been fined, nor suspended.

I guess we still have a "double standard" in this country when it comes to race. This will never change until, these people (for lack of a better word) will continue to disparage others until they finally face fines, suspensions, and outright dismissal.

Taking Health Care To A New Level

Well, you really have to give the Insurance Industry credit. These people really know how to spin a lie. Once again they are doing what they do best, by planting the seeds of fear into the elderly. This is the easiest target audience for the insurance industry. The elderly have paid their respective dues by working hard, putting their children through school, and now just want to sit back and enjoy the rest of their lives. Well the insurance industry will never tolerate this American Dream. The insurance industry makes its money by denying coverage, and claims.

This should come as no surprise to those that do have health insurance coverage. For example; if you experienced a back injury, the first thing done to that patient is an x-ray. This is done to see if any bones broke, or fractured. The majority of the time this test always comes back negative. Yet the pain persist and the patient request another test. The most common test is an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). This test will reveal the root cause of the injury. Nevertheless, insurance companies will deny this test on a routine basis to many patients. The MRI cost more as opposed to an x-ray, and is not as profitable. By denying a patient an MRI, the insurance industry makes more money. That translates into, they don't have to pay for that procedure, and pocket the profit.

This is not preventive health care. This is rationing of health care by private companies. If a patient has an MRI and then proceeds to have surgery to correct the ailment, that is preventive health care. The problem is solved. Anyone in their right mind would prefer a problem to be solved, as opposed to continue to put it off as it cost much more time and money. Every time a Republican controlled Congress, and White House has occupied this nation, they refuse to address health care. The only time they did do anything related to health care, they gave the insurance and drug companies a blank check to fleece the elderly and poor.

So why are seniors so upset with legislation designed, to not only help them, but small business, the self-employed, and those that cannot afford the ridiculously high-priced premiums the insurance industry offers? That's a simple question to answer. They've been lied too. It is the insurance industry that stand to make billions of dollars a year if health care reform passes and becomes law. It is the consumer that will finally get some support from the government, when they need that MRI to solve an ailment. So why does the insurance industry seek out the elderly and lie to them by saying, "the government will cut your benefits"? Simple answer again. They (insurance companies) don't want to be held accountable with "rules and regulations". So there you have it. Health care is being taken to a new level by flat-out lies. The sad part, it is the elderly being made the puppet to spread the lies by the insurance industry. If you don't believe me, just look at the people at these "town-hall" meetings. Not many youngster asking those "talking-point" questions is there?

And I have some prime real estate on the moon for sale also. Oh you just have to love a Mayor who's losing credibility faster than an illegally purchased weapons speeding bullet. Many of us that have followed the plight (career would not be the correct word) of the Mayor, knows money shall and always be passed on to cronies.

You can surely guarantee, money will be made at the expense of the taxpayers. This city doesn't need a two (2) week event that will not benefit the city in any way, shape, or form. Sure there will be a slight increase in jobs, but what happens after the Olympics are gone? Layoff's, abandoned buildings, and an increase in crime. Bet on it.

Remember that "affordable housing scheme"? That didn't benefit the people, only those with money were "flipping" condo's. So for this Mayor to once again, deny this guy, or that lady will not profit from this or that, just take it with a grain of salt. I for one am not buying it, and I truly hope no other taxpayer is either.

Good news, but we still need to tighten up the sentencing laws. These criminals have to be shown that if you do the crime, there will be serious time. No more probation, or slaps on the wrist for gun violations.

The top cop also has a point on parents. The best thing to do is raise the fines on parents, if their kids are caught breaking curfew. You can guarantee parents will make sure little Johnny and Jane will have no more excuses to be out beyond curfew.

Nevertheless, encouraging news, but more needs to be done. Let's hope there will be.

Well, all I can say is that you can guarantee the republicans will nit-pick this to death, and blow it all out of proportion. If you haven't noticed by now, they (republicans and cohorts) are beating the "Race Drum". Sure they will deny it. But a blind man can see this a mile away. Just look at the "protesters". Look at the signs they carry. Listen to what they are saying on the radio.

You have a republican congressman making jokes about a fellow congressman's effigy of being "LYNCHED". Another congressman, and possibly more are receiving "Death Threats". The "War Cry" they use is "Take Our Country Back". And give it to whom I must ask? The Insurance Industry? The Pharmaceutical Industry? If the republicans had their way, there would be no Social Security, nor Medicaid for states. And guess what? These "Same People" would be screaming for the government to help them.

I found it stunning at one "Town-Hall" meeting the bulk of the people in there complaining against health care were on Medicare, Medicaid, or both. Forrest Gump said it best: "Stupid is as Stupid Does".

Great, just great your highness. You actually thought you could just let this out there and not one person would complain?. This is a classic example of how this Mayor continues to stick it to the residents of Chicago. First he says he's going to get this money to assist in his insane bid for the Olympics. Next he sends in a crony to lie to the people and claim it's for roads and sewers, not the Olympics.

This guy is a fantastic piece of work. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city kids continue to get shot, police are under staff, and essential services continue to get gutted. But alas, his Highness can find and extra 100 million bucks to pass on to his foot soldiers to line their already bulging pockets. Maybe the Fed's should start checking his buddies freezers here in Chicago? Who knows, they may find more than 90 grand.

And They Are Not In Jail? Random Douchebags

Times have definitely changed. The insurance companies (Yes Folks The Insurance Companies) are possibly paying "carpet-baggers" to bum-rush town-hall meetings held by democratic congress persons in their respective districts. These "Fake Residents" don't even live there. Nevertheless they sneak in and raise a ruckus to attempt to shutdown the town-hall. Truly shameful, yet some elements of the media refuse to expose this unethical behavior for what it is. In simple language, it's just plain hooliganism. Such actions remind me of the "Haymarket Square Riots" of 1886.

These people bum-rushing these meetings will not stop until an unfortunate incident becomes a reality. The Insurance Companies are fully aware of such possible scenarios, because these people are a bit unhinged, and get carried away. But in reality, they don't care. These carpet-baggers are trampling on decent citizens freedom of expression and free speech, by shouting and screaming during these town-halls across the country.

So what can be done to prevent these "paid" carpet-baggers from such disruptions? Well first, ensure those attending these meetings present identification to prove they our the "real constituents" residing in such communities. After all, that is the original intent of such meetings. They are for the "People" living there, not rabid, paid carpet-baggers.

On another subject. What is the deal with these zealots on "C Street"? If you haven't heard or read the story of these religious zealots, you may be in for a serious shock. Have you heard of the "National Prayer Breakfast"? The "Family" gave us that little gem. I take it they also don't believe in the "Separation of Church and State". President Truman told them to take a hike. Eisenhower rebuffed them also, but caved thinking this would be a one-shot thing. Boy was he wrong. If anything, get the book written by Jeff Sharlet. It just might freak you out. The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power. Jeff Sharlet.

Prisons not the answer to crime problems: Attorney General :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Politics

Prisons not the answer to crime problems: Attorney General :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Politics

Well it appears the New Attorney General knows something the last one did not. The previous administration's only interest/concern dealt with corporations, not the people. If any entity made money, you were on their radar.

Eric Holder cuts right through the chase. If you reduce spending on schools, police, social services, and other resources vital to community development, you will see a rise in crime. Just spending funds on building more, and more prisons, will never be the only solution.

Building more prisons is nothing more than out-sourcing funds and jobs that are sorely needed for the above mentioned resources. Prisons original function served to incarcerate murderers, rapist, robbers, kidnappers, hard-core drug dealers, and others of ill-repute. They were never designed for "pot-smokers".

Just look what happened when they banned booze. They had to repeal it. So again, I say, decriminalize marijuana, and tax it like cigarettes. Cities and states will generate billions in new revenue. These new found funds can and will put more police on the streets, more teachers in schools, build better schools, improve social services, and most importantly, add more jobs vital in these sorely needed communities.

Crime hot spots shifting :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime

Crime hot spots shifting :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime

This is a wake-up call for all Chicago neighborhoods. When communities begin the slow process of deterioration, crime always will rise. Our elected representatives know this happens, yet continue to never enact measures to combat neighborhood deterioration.

The politicians only logic is bulldozing these areas to line their respective pockets for future developments. History has shown this logic to be true. There are real solutions to combat crime, but as usual, no politician, or religious leader will take the initiative.

They (politicians) claim a lack of funding to get more police on the streets. If you can "find money" for "cash for clunkers", you can find money for more police.

Wake up America.

I could not agree more with this article. Something must be done to show these lawless criminals with illegal guns, this will no longer be tolerated. No more probation, no more community service. These criminals must do mandatory long-term sentences when caught with un-registered, stolen, and illegally obtained guns.

You have to ask yourself, where and how are these criminals getting these weapons? Here's how. Open-air guns shows, and "Straw-Man" purchases. Here's how you shut that down. Regulate the gun shows. Put a 20 year mandatory sentence on the "Straw-Man". After all, this person is an accessory, so charge them as such. If our elected officials continue to ignore these simple solutions, it's time to get fresh people in office that are not afraid of the NRA.
